I did quite a bit of gardening today. I first trimmed a row of 50 mature arborvitae trees, a “natural fence” making a nice and straight flat top. Arborvitae’s are evergreen coniferous trees of the cypress family and are widely used as ornamental hedges and screens, particularly in cooler climates. We bought them for $1 each 15 years ago and now they are large (8+ feet high, 3+ feet wide). The hedge is completely connected and looks beautiful. I also cleaned an entire area that was overgrown and “jungle-like” near our fruit trees – this took a long time!
The rest of the day was spent being lazy for the most part and doing nothing remarkable. The weather out here is great so we went on a walk in the evening with Pepe. It doesn’t feel like August with high temperatures in the upper 60’s and low 70’s and lows in the 50’s at night making for comfortable sleeping conditions. I was to busy doing nothing today to upload photos of the gardening, but perhaps tomorrow morning. In the mean time, here are some more nice shots from the Mount Pugh day-hike last week.
